1.Bronchodilators
A.B agonist:
a.Selective B2 agonist-----
Short acting (duration 4-6 hours)
Sulbutamol
Terbutaline
Bambuterol

Long Acting (duration 12 hours or more)
Salmeterol
Formeterol
Fenoterol
Rimeterol

b.Non selective (B1+B2) agonist:
(Adrenaline)
Ephedrine
Isoprenaline

B.Methyl xanthine:
Theophylline
Aminophylline
Doxophylline

C.Anticholinergics:
Ipratropium bromide
Tiotropium bromide
Oxitropium

2.Leukotriene pathway inhibitors:
Montelukast
Zafirlukast
Zileuton

3.Mast cell stabilizers:
Sodium cromoglycate

4.Corticosteroides:
Systemic:
Hydrocortisone

Inhalational:
Beclomethasone

Rational Approach for Asthma
*Use of bronchodilator.
*Use of drug which prevents release
   of mediators from mast cell.
*Use of drug which removes
   inflammatory state of the bronchial tree.
*Other non drug measures must also be taken.
